Reference
The library has an extensive collection of reference books for both adults and children, including college and career guidance materials and literary criticism. Our staff is available to assist you.
Call Ahead Service and Holds / Requests
Call ahead or place your order online. Library staff will call when materials are ready and to schedule a pickup.
Printing, Copier, and Scanning
Printing, copying, and scanning services are available at the library.

Get a Library Card
- Residents of Miami Shores — No Fee
- Barry University Faculty — No Fee
- Non-resident adult or family — $75 per year
- Non-resident children 17 and under — $25 per year
- Non-resident seniors ages 50+ — $50 per year
Florida Retired Educators — Retired educators who are members of the Florida Retired Educators’ Association (FREA) and who taught in Miami Shores schools are eligible for a free membership, renewable annually, with proof of a current FREA membership.
Borrowing Guidelines
- Fiction & Paperbacks — 15 books
- Non-fiction Books — 3 per subject
- Magazines — 10 per card
- CDs & DVDs — 5 each per card
- First time checkout — 2 items only

Fines and Fees
Please return all books and magazines via the library’s book drop.
Please return DVDs and Audio CDs to the circulation desk to avoid damage in the book drop.
eBooks and eAudios are automatically checked in when due and do not accrue fines.
Overdue Fees
- Books, Audios & Magazines — $0.25 per day
- DVDs — $1.00 per day
- Replacement of Lost Library Card — $5.00
