Inspections

Please submit inspection requests by 3:30 PM to schedule for the next available business day for that trade. 
Inspection days are as follows:

• Building and Roofing: Monday to Friday
• Electrical: Monday to Friday
• Plumbing: Monday to Thursday
• Mechanical: Monday and Wednesday
  

State license expired on 8/31/2026.

Local Business Tax (BRT) licenses will expire on 9/30/2026.

To update contractor information for inspections email to: BuildingDepartment@msvfl.gov

Must have up-to-date license and insurances in order to request inspection.

Specify the inspection type.

NOTICE: INSPECTION SCHEDULING

The inspections listed on your permit card are generic and may not all apply to your project. Please schedule only the inspections required for your permitted scope of work.

For guidance on required inspections, contact your licensed contractor and/or licensed design professional.

Inspectors work from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM in the field.

No inspections will be performed unless the permit card is displayed, and plans are readily available at the job site. It is the permit applicant's responsibility to ensure that the work is accessible and exposed for inspection purposes.

Neither the building official nor the city shall be liable for expenses incurred in the removal or replacement of any material required to allow inspection.

Inspections are not performed on the following holidays:

• Columbus Day - October 12, 2026
• Veterans Day - November 11, 2026
• Thanksgiving Day and Friday after - November 26 & 27, 2026
• Christmas Day - December 25, 2026
• New Year's Day -  January 1, 2027
• Martin Luther King Jr. - January 18, 2027
• Presidents Day - February 15, 2027
• Memorial Day - May 31, 2026
• Juneteenth - June 18, 2026
• Independence Day (observed on) - July 5, 2026
• Labor Day - September 6, 2026
