Recycling Information

Please contact Public Works at 305-795-2210 with any questions.

Recycling is an essential practice that contributes to environmental sustainability. It involves transforming waste materials into new, reusable items, reducing the need for raw materials and minimizing the impact on the environment.

In the context of Miami Shores Village, recycling is managed by the Solid Waste Division, a part of the Public Works Department. Collections are made once a week, reaching over 3500 homes in the village.

It's important to note that not all materials are recyclable, and some may require special handling or disposal. Therefore, residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with local recycling guidelines, which can typically be found on the official Miami-Dade County website.

Recycling is a shared responsibility that contributes to the health and sustainability of our community. By properly sorting and disposing of our waste, we can all play a part in preserving our environment for future generations.

Bulk (Yard Debris & Household Items)
Bulk Pick Up Information

Preparing Your Bulk Trash for Pickup

Please contact Public Works at 305-795-2210 with any questions.

Bulk trash should be placed in your alley by 7:00 AM on your area pickup day. Each day, the Sanitation Division designates an area for bulk pickup. Staff will work to complete pickup in that area on the designated day; however, inclement weather, mechanical issues, or other operational delays may affect service.

Bulk pickup occurs approximately every two to three weeks on a route through the Village.

Bulk Pickup Includes

  • Yard waste, furniture, junk, old swing sets, and other non-construction, non-hazardous materials.
  • Long items, such as lumber, branches, and PVC pipe, must be cut to no longer than 5 feet.
  • Branches should not exceed 2 inches in diameter unless scheduled as a special pickup.
  • White goods, including washers, dryers, refrigerators, furniture, TVs, old cabinets, and carpet, may be placed out for pickup.

Items Not Accepted

  • Building materials, including blocks, bricks, concrete, tile, drywall, boards with nails, and roofing material.
  • Hazardous materials or waste, including car batteries, wet paint, pesticides, herbicides, and other chemicals.
  • Car parts.

Preparing Your Vegetation for Pickup

Only up to 3 cubic yards of vegetation will be collected with bulk trash. Large tree stumps and trunks larger than 4 inches in diameter may require a special pickup.  Pay for a special pickup .

  • Cut large vegetation into lengths no longer than 5 feet.
  • Place grass clippings, leaves, and other loose yard waste in heavy-duty plastic trash bags or separate containers.
  • Set vegetation out before 7:00 AM on your area pickup day.
  • Leave space around each pile and keep the area free of obstructions.
  • Remove loose or small debris from piles.

Help Us Go Green

Bulk trash and vegetation must be separated for pickup. Separating vegetation from bulk trash allows the vegetation to be recycled. This includes keeping trash bags of bulk waste separate from leaves, branches, and other vegetation.

Be smart. Do your part.
