Miami Shores Village has received a matching grant from the Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) for improvements to the seawall at Bayfront Park along North Bayshore Drive between NE 94th Street and approximately 175 feet north of NE 96th Street. The project will include replacing and elevating the existing seawall to account for future sea level rise, sidewalk improvements, placement of a kayak launch, and drainage improvements as necessary for the affected areas.

The Village Council authorized the Village Manager to pursue the construction of the Miami Shores Bayfront Seawall renovation and to proceed with the FIND grant application process.

The Village applied for the FIND grant for the Phase 1 of the Miami Shores Bayfront Park Seawall project. Project will include replacing and elevating the existing seawall to account for future sea level rise, sidewalk and railing improvements, placement of a kayak launch, and drainage improvements as necessary for the affected areas.

Public Meeting Presentation - Virtual / In-person (seating is limited due to Covid-19)
Includes Design and Permitting which was divided 50%. The Village will pay $125,000 and FIND will pay $125,000 upon completion of phase 1 later this year. The Village will also work with FIND for funding for the actual construction which is estimated to cost 2 million dollars of which the Village will be required to pay half and the other half will be paid by FIND.
Florida Inland Navigation District's(FIND) primary mission is to get people to use the bay and waterways.
