Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Aquatics Manager, monitors pool activities to ensure the safety of swimmers; may perform other duties as assigned.   

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:      

  • Ensures the safety of swimmers, and monitors pool conditions;
  • Maintains pool equipment, assists swimmers in distress, and renders first aid and CPR as needed; performs daily maintenance tasks;
  • Enforces rules and regulations to ensure safety and prevent accidents;
  • Takes registrations and payments for class admissions, and answers telephones; keeps record of the cash and credit sales daily;
  • Maintains all required certification and physical fitness requirements for lifeguarding;
  • Prepares incident and accident reports and maintains various records;
  • Coordinates the cleaning and maintenance of the pool, including vacuuming the pool, brushing algae from the pool, skimming and brushing the water park; maintains facilities including restroom, mowing and pressure washing;
  • Assists the public by providing information and answering questions in person and on the telephone; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Required
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • WSI preferred
  • Valid State of Florida Driver’s License

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Act as a representative of the Village to the public;
  • Effectively and efficiently organize and track department records;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:     

This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as medium work involving lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.  If someone can do medium work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary and light work.
