Job Description:

Under general supervision, monitors pool activities, works at concession, ensures safety for all patrons, and ensures rules are followed, may perform other duties as assigned.   

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:      

  • Assists in facilitating aquatic operations, programs, events, and activities;
  • Monitor aquatic patrons in Wild Waters playground; ensuring proper use and safety;
  • Supervise and assists participants during activities to ensure compliance with rules and maintain a safe environment;
  • Operate and maintain concession Stand, use RecTrac for concession item purchases
  • Provides excellent customer service by addressing participant inquiries and resolving minor issues, report guests who violate rules to Supervisor;
  • Supports staff in maintaining cleanliness of facilities and activity areas;
  • Promotes participation and encourages a positive atmosphere during activities;
  • Performs administrative tasks such as attendance tracking, scheduling and reporting as needed; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Obtain First Aid/CPR certification within six months of employment;
  • One year of experience working in a municipal recreation department preferred;
  • Or any equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
  • Valid State of Florida Driver’s License

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of traditional athletic games;
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing to staff and program participants;
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse age groups and backgrounds;
  • Basic knowledge of recreational activities and safety practices;
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and guidelines;
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills;
  • Good customer service and organizational skills;
  • Flexibility and ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Recreation Aides typically work in dynamic environments, including indoor and outdoor settings and be exposed to various weather conditions.  Physical ability to lift equipment and participate in activities as needed.  May operate a motor vehicle occasionally.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:     

The role may require evening, weekend, or holiday shifts depending on program schedules. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations.
