Job Description:
Under the general supervision of the Operations Manager, performs manual labor, and/or maintenance at Village buildings and facilities, parks, and streets; may perform other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs routing maintenance repairs including custodial duties;
- Inspects assigned facilities and equipment regularly regarding condition, safety, and degree of use;
- Operates motorized equipment to include riding mowers, tractors, grooming machines, turf tricksters, and other associated equipment;
- Assists with set-up and break-down of special events, equipment and structures;
- Cleans culverts, gutters, ditches, swales, storm drains, canals, replaces signage, removes dead animals from roadway, and performs a variety of general maintenance tasks;
- Removes and replaces sod, sprinkler heads, drains, catch basins, digs trenches, prunes trees and shrubs;
- Reports major maintenance and repair needs to the Operations Manager;
- Removes debris from sidewalks, parking lot, and athletic courts and fields;
- Mows lawn, trims shrubbery, and cultivates flowers;
- Works special events and rentals as needed/scheduled;
- Pours concrete and asphalt and repairs streets;
- May operate a street sweeper, water truck, etc.;
- Performs irrigation system maintenance; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.;
- One year experience in construction and park maintenance required;
- Or any equivalent training, education and/or experience; and
- Valid State of Florida Driver’s License; Class “B” CDL License preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of Village policies and procedures;
- Act as a representative of the Village to the public;
- Knowledgeable in methods, tools, and equipment used in custodial work;
- Knowledgeable in the use of paints, stains, and adhesives;
- Safely operate small equipment and tools;
- Knowledgeable in the use and storage of hazardous materials;
- Accurately follow oral and written instructions;
- Ability to effectively communicate with others; and
- Ability to work independently.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work environment involves risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions typical of such places as garages, and shops, e.g., working around chemicals, equipment, or machinery, etc.; and may require working in adverse weather conditions. Must be able to lift, carry, and/or push articles weighing up to 80 lbs. and/or continual standing or walking for prolonged periods.
