Job Title: Lifeguard (Seasonal)

Salary range: $17.50 - $18.25 DOQ/E

Department: Parks and Recreation

Hours: Seasonal

Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Aquatics Supervisor, monitors pool activities to ensure safety of swimmers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:      

• Ensures the safety of swimmers, and monitors pool conditions;
• Maintains pool equipment, assists swimmers in distress, and renders first and CPR as needed;
• Enforces rules and regulations to ensure safety and prevent accidents;
• Maintains all required certification and physical fitness requirements;
• Prepares incident reports and maintains various records;
• Coordinates the cleaning and maintenance of pool;
• Assists the public by providing information and answering questions; 
• Assists with special events; and
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

• Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
• Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
• Valid State of Florida Driver’s License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Working knowledge of Village policies and procedures;
• Act as a representative of the Village to the public;
• Working knowledge of department practices and procedures;
• Effectively and efficiently organize and track department records;
• Ability to communicate effectively with others.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Work requires the physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
