JOB SUMMARY:
The Village is seeking a dedicated and experienced Systems Administrator for a full-time on-site role, responsible for managing and securing IT infrastructure across all Village departments, with a primary focus on the Police Department. This technical position ensures compliance with FDLE CJIS guidelines while maintaining high standards for cybersecurity, systems reliability, and data integrity. The role includes managing servers, desktops, firewalls and other network hardware, and security platforms. This position reports directly to the IT Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provides technical support and project execution to various Village departments.
- Assist with planning, development, installation, configuration, maintenance, support, and optimization of all technical infrastructure, systems and applications.
- Safeguards data and network security, adhering to applicable guidelines including FDLE CJIS.
- Evaluates, implement, and monitor cybersecurity measures including firewalls, antivirus, vulnerability scanning, and access control systems.
- Performs timely patching of all Village infrastructure.
- Conducts regular security audits and responds to security incidents to assess and mitigate risks.
- Provides security training for all Village staff to enhance security awareness and readiness.
- Manages and secures Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and any digital security certificates.
- Participates in multi-agency initiatives.
- Performs audits in backup and recovery procedures to ensure a rapid recovery path.
- Exhibits high levels of responsibility, punctuality, and self-direction in all assigned duties.
- Performs related work as required and demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decreases turnaround times, streamlines work processes, and works cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field.
- Certifications in industry standards such as A+, Network+, Microsoft, Cloud Platforms and VMware are preferred, but not required.
- A minimum of three (4) years of experience in enterprise information technology and cybersecurity.
- Public Sector or law enforcement agency experience is preferred.
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required
(A comparable amount of training, education and experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications).
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Extensive Knowledge of ITIL framework, VMware, Hyper-V, Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Office 365, and network protocols.
- Extensive knowledge of virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, and/or XenServer.
- Proficiency with Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and Office 365.
- Strong understanding of network protocols and configurations.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise-class firewall technologies, including:
- Cisco ASA/Firepower
- Palo Alto Networks
- SonicWALL
- Fortinet FortiGate
- Strong understanding of data privacy laws and cybersecurity frameworks.
- Proven ability to administer and troubleshoot Windows-based client and server environments.
- Technical knowledge of network and PC hardware components, including hard drives, NICs, memory, firewall, switches and routers.
- Ability to operate and support a range of IT peripherals (printers, scanners, tablets, mobile devices, etc.).
- Effective time management, project coordination, and task prioritization skills in high-pressure environments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, OEM guides, and procedural documentation.
- Strong research skills for evaluating new tools, solving problems, and supporting new technology.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter, take initiative, and remain accountable without close supervision.
- Demonstrated punctuality, reliability, and professionalism in a customer service-oriented role.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with Village staff, elected officials, and the public.
Physical Demands:
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Lifting and transporting moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
- Activities include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions.
- Visual activity requirement for preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer terminals, and operating motor vehicles.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed in an office environment.
- May require occasional work outside and be exposed to various weather conditions.
- May operate a motor vehicle occasionally.
