Miami Shores holds municipal elections every two years, in odd numbered years in April. The 2021 municipal election will be held on Tuesday, April 13 at the Community Center from 7am-7pm. Councilmembers are elected on a non-partisan basis. Candidates receiving first and second highest number of votes shall serve a term of four years; candidate receiving the third highest number of votes shall serve a term of two years. The Miami Shores Village Clerk is the local Supervisor of Elections for all municipal elections.

At the conclusion of their term as Mayor and Vice-Mayor, the individuals retain a seat on the Council as a "regular" Council member for the next 2 years. |

Method of Qualifying for the Ballot: |
Any qualified elector, with at least 6 months residency, may qualify by petition, which shall be signed by not less than fifty (50) qualified electors and filed with the village clerk. No elector shall sign more than three (3) such petitions, and should an elector do so, their signature shall be voided except as to the petition first filed. |
