ELECTION INFORMATION

 

2023 Miami Shores Village Council Election

Miami Shores holds municipal elections every two years, in odd numbered years in April. The 2023 municipal election will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at the Community Center from 7am-7pm. Early voting will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the Lawton McCall Community Center from 7am to 7pm. Councilmembers are elected on a non-partisan basis. Candidates receiving first and second highest number of votes shall serve a term of four years; candidate receiving the third highest number of votes shall serve a term of two years. The Miami Shores Village Clerk is the local Supervisor of Elections for all municipal elections.

 

OFFICIAL ELECTION RESULTS 

· Voter Registration Deadline: Monday, March 13 (Register online)

· Request for Vote-By-Mail (VBM) Ballot Due: Saturday, April 1 (Request a VMB ballot online). Please note VBM ballots will be printed and mailed as of March 13, 2023. 

· Last Day VBM Ballots will be mailed by the County: April 3, 2023

The VBM ballot must be in the custody of the Miami-Dade County Elections Department and/or PO Box by 7:00 pm on 04/11/23. 

· General Election (Early Voting/Mail-in Ballot Dropoff):  Saturday, April 8

· General Election: Tuesday, April 11

If a runoff election is necessary, it will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. 

 

Candidates shall file qualification papers with the Village Clerk beginning Monday, February 6, 2023 at 8:30 AM through Friday, March 3, 2023 no later than 5:00 PM.

Along with the Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign Depository for Candidates form, which must be filed with the Village Clerk prior to the following forms/papers, these additional forms should be completed and returned to my office (by appointment) during the qualifying period, which shall commence on February 6, 2023:

  1. Upon becoming a Qualified Candidate, you will receive confirmation from my office subsequent to the Miami-Dade County Department of Elections verifying fifty (50) qualified electors’ signatures.  The deadline to qualify for the April 11, 2023 election is 5:00 PM Friday, March 3, 2022.  As the Village depends upon the County’s Department of Elections to verify signatures, please ensure that your petitions are submitted in a timely manner.  Individuals submitting paperwork past the deadline will not be considered a qualified candidate.  There will be no exceptions.  The official time will be as indicated on mobile phone of the Village Clerk.

The Miami Shores Village Council Election will be held on April 11, 2023. The deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot is 5 p.m. on the tenth day before the election. Miami- Dade Election Department must receive the vote by mail ballot request by 5 p.m., a postmarked vote-by-mail ballot request is not valid. (April 1, 2023)

VBM ballots will be mailed out on March 14, 2023.
